Dangote Cement maintains strong environmental performance with CDP’s B score
Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) is being recognised for its transparency in environmental issues and sustainability by Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the global environmental non-profit that runs the world’s only independent disclosure system.
DCP has been awarded a ‘B’ rating for climate change and water security for the second consecutive year, out of the nearly 20,000 companies scored in 2025, and the more than 22,100 companies that reported in the same year. The award recognises DCP’s corporate transparency in the implementation of strategies to mitigate environmental impacts of its business.
CDP applies a rigorous and independent methodology to evaluate disclosure quality, risk awareness, environmental management, and evidence of best practice. Scores range from A to D-, reflecting the degree of ambition, target-setting and action. In 2025, 640 investors seeking to accelerate progress towards a net-zero, sustainable and earth-positive global economy, with $127 trillion in assets asked CDP to collect data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities.
Igazeuma Okoroba, Group Head of Sustainability at DCP remarked: “This score recognises our sustained commitment to transparent environmental disclosures, since we began CDP disclosures in 2019. Maintaining a B rating reflects our ability to meet more stringent disclosure requirements, supported by measurable improvements in emissions and energy reporting, decarbonisation strategies, water security governance, pollution management, Scope 3 disclosures, low carbon product initiatives, public policy engagement, and strengthened climate-related governance.
